Title: Microtek ScanMaker i800 scanner
Pros: Large 8-inch-by-14-inch scanning area for legal-sized documents; both USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 connectivity.
Cons: Scanner buttons worked intermittently; transparency scans over-sharpened at default settings; a little pokey.
Verdict: As you'd expect, this scanner takes up a little more space on your desk than letter-sized scanners, but not that much. You can use either a FireWire 400 or a USB 2.0 port to connect the i800 to your Mac. I used FireWire
Summary: Microtek's ScanMaker i800 is good all-around printer with some nice higher-end features, like a built-in transparency unit with support for multiple sizes.
